02 Feb Chinese New Year Banquet
Last night, we celebrated the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia’s Annual Chinese New Year Banquet at Casino Nova Scotia.
In Chinese culture, the Year of the Rat represents new beginnings, strength and vitality; this zodiac animal is also a sign of wealth.
A delicious dinner was served, following dessert. Afterwards, there were a variety of entertaining acts, including a young singer, dances — both traditional and contemporary, draws and a fashion show!
Kind words were also spoken by Mayor Mike Savage, Geoff Regan (MP for Halifax West), Dr. Mary Bluechardt (president and vice chancellor of Mount Saint Vincent University), Dr. Deep Saini (president and vice chancellor of Dalhousie University), and Mr. Wilber Huang (president of the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia).
