Daughters of the Vote 2021 Applications are Now Open!

I am excited to share information about an important program encouraging female political participation.

Daughters of the Vote, organized by Equal Voice, is an event that began in 2017 to mark the 100th anniversary of white women earning the right to vote in Canada (Asian women earned the right in 1948, Inuit women in 1950 and Indigenous women in 1960). The event also took place in 2019.

One delegate is chosen from each of the 338 federal ridings to attend the conference.

In 2021, Equal Voice is bringing Daughters of the Vote online! The goal of the conference is to introduce the delegates to Canada’s political and government institutions and show how they can participate in politics and volunteer in their local communities.

The conference will take place from March 5-8, 2021.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Applicants must self-identify as women, and/or gender-diverse and/or non-binary.
• Previous delegates from 2017 and 2019 cannot apply again.
• Applicants must be born on, or between January 1st, 1993 to December 31st, 2001, no exceptions. Proof of age will be required ahead of participation in the program.
• Applicants must be fully available from March 5 to 8, 2021. Selected delegates will also be required to commit to and complete mandatory training in January and February, ahead of the program start date.

Benefits of participating in Daughters of the Vote include learning about being a female-identifying politician, networking with government officials, and building strong relationships with fellow delegates.

Applications are now open and interested delegates are invited to apply until October 1, 2020. The link to apply is: https://www.equalvoice.ca/apply
