Dreams to Reality: Career Day for Girls

This morning, I spoke at National Careers Day, which took place at the Halifax Christian Church in Clayton Park West; Over 20 young women gathered for the ‘Dreams to Reality: Career Day for Girls’ event, held by local entrepreneur and friend, Ifeoma Esonwune.

Ifeoma and her group, the Network for the Empowerment of Women, hold events for young women often in my riding to inspire and educate them on their value and what they can achieve if they set their mind to it!

I was joined by women of all accomplishments and accolades; A journalist, a social worker, a business consultant, a dentist, an activist and a researcher.

Each woman spoke of her life experiences, how it got her to that particular career and the skills and tools needed to succeed in these particular fields.

It was a lovely event and a great way for the girls to spend their PD day. And, I know the attendees walked away with an overwhelming amount of knowledge, from all the professional women, that can now be used as fuel in their futures.

Thank you to Ifeoma and the Network for the Empowerment of Women for hosting this event!
