Earth Day Clean-up

Today is Earth Day.

During these difficult times, individual acts can show that we care about each other, our community and our earth.

If you are going for a walk, think about taking a bag and some gloves on your way!

I encourage you on this Earth Day, and in the coming weeks, if you are already out for a walk, to notify my office via email (rafah@rafahdicostanzo.com) or by telephone (902-443-8318). I can provide and deliver trash-pickers and garbage bags to you.

I will also be out for a clean-up on my own to help keep our community clean!

In addition, it’s a great idea to take a picture of the area you cleaned, and the number of bags accumulated, as we will be tracking what areas need attention and which areas have been completed. You can post the photos below as a comment!

This year, we are unable to do the community clean-ups as we did last year; it will have to be postponed until a later date when it is announced that it is safe to do so.

I noticed three constituents of Clayton Park West cleaning on Dunbrack Street yesterday. Maureen, one of the women, mentioned to me that on Saturday, she began her cleanup on Braemount Drive and Lacewood Drive. She then continued onto the path near Braemount Drive.

Maureen’s neighbours, Yolanda and Marie, volunteered to give her a hand, cleaning up both sides of Lacewood Drive – from Bayview to Dunbrack!

Between the three of them, they were able to collect up to five full bags of garbage, all while practicing the social distancing rules in place.

It is important that you adhere to the social distancing rules (at least 2M away or more) during your clean-up; choose areas that are less frequented by walkers or passerby’s. And most importantly… have fun! It’s a beautiful day to get some fresh air!
