First Annual Community Foot Prints Event

Sunday was a gorgeous day to attend the First Annual Community Foot Prints event hosted by the Halifax North West Trails Association, which was part of Halifax Bike Week.

It took place at the Rockingham Ridge Plaza on Farnham Gate Road.

The ecological footprint is used as a tool to measure our impact as humans in the world around us. It was wonderful to see grassroots organizations working together to benefit their communities and to promote physical activity.

I had lovely conversations with all the attendees and presenters at the event, who are just as passionate about the wilderness as I am. There were nearly 12 booths, which included:

-Halifax North West Trails Association

-Ducks Unlimited Canada

-Blue Mountain – Birch Cove Lakes Society

-Bike Again

-Nordic Pole Walking Nova Scotia

-Welcoming Wheels

-Ecology Action Centre

-Foot Care Nova Scotia

-Halifax Regional Search and Rescue

All visitors left with a better understanding of their environment and social opportunities, and also met new neighbours who share common interests.

If you were unable to attend, we encourage you to visit the Blue Mountain – Birch Cove Lakes Society
website and sign up to receive news and updates: https://www.bluemountainfriends.ca

I cannot wait for next year!
