Labour Day Weekend, #Staycation!

We were blessed with beautiful weather this past Labour Day Weekend. I hope many of my constituents were able to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful province!
My husband, John, and I took two days cycling with another couple to explore a different area of Nova Scotia.
This past weekend, we drove two hours north to Tatamagouche in Colchester County.
We cycled approximately 34 kilometers on Saturday along Highway 6. We started from the Tattri Settlement Road and ended at Sutherlands Mill Museum on Denmark Road. We stopped for a lovely walk along Blue Sea Beach with our feet in the water.
The ride was easy and very pleasant and hardly any cars went by!
After the ride, we checked in to our lovely bed and breakfast, Mehomeby B&B! The owner is originally from Prince Edward Island and her husband from Newfoundland.
Mehomeby B&B was very well organized with social distancing and mask wearing. Guests were separated in their own bubbles inside and outside.
We stopped at McMahon’s for dinner in Wallace, where we were able to eat outside and enjoy the spectacular view!
Our homemade hot breakfast was fantastic and we had a choice of quiche or berry pancakes. They also had an assortment of homemade jams! I decided to try dandelion and lavender which I had never tasted before. The lavender was from the owner of MeHomeBy’s own U-pick lavender farm!
On Sunday, we chose to cycle on the Butter Trail Section of the Short Line Trail. We started at Creamery Road and finished at Denmark Road.
All four of us agreed that the Butter Trail was one of the most beautiful trails we have ever experienced in Nova Scotia! The Scenery was continually changing from tall trees to farmland or coastal waters. It was absolutely spectacular and very well maintained.
We stopped at the Sutherland Mill Museum and met a lovely and generous local lady who offered us a lovely snack of freshly picked cherry tomatoes! She also recommended a great idea for lunch in downtown Tatamagouche, The 2 Boy’s Smokehouse & Deli, where we had delicious $5 sandwiches and delicious local craft beer at Tatamagouche Brewing Co., which was located right next door to the deli!
Thank you for the lovely tomato snack and for the excellent lunch recommendation!
We followed our sandwiches and beer with expresso at the Tipperary Bakery and Café.
It was a lovely #Staycation to celebrate the final long weekend of the summer! I am very thankful that myself, John, and our friends were able to discover a new part of our beautiful province.
