21 Oct Launch of HARP (2019-2020)
It was an honour to announce the launch of the 2019-2020 Heating Assistance Rebate Program (HARP) on behalf of Patricia Arab, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services, at the Keshen Goodman Library this morning.
We all know that home heating costs can be hard to afford, especially for low-income families in this province – which is exactly why this program is available once again.
For families in Nova Scotia who pay for their own heat, and who fall under low-income households, the program provides a rebate of up to $200.
Also, those applying for the Property Tax Rebate Program for Low Income Seniors have the option to be automatically considered for HARP by ticking the box on the same application.
Over 9,400 tax rebate recipients will get the heating help they need during the first week of the program, and they will not need to fill out a second application for this.
In order to qualify for the program, the income threshold for one-person households is $29,000; It is $44,000 for households that exceed one person.
You can now apply for the 2019-2020 heating season, and you don’t even have to leave your home to apply; Applications are available online.
You can also fill out applications at the following places:
-Access Nova Scotia Centres
-Community Services offices
-MLA offices
