I am incredibly proud of my alma matter, Mount Saint Vincent University, for launching a pilot project that covers tuition and other compulsory fees for former children in care.
The program is for students pursuing their first degree and spent at least one year in foster care.
This project is the first for an Atlantic Canadian university and will begin in January with 10 students. There is no age limit, reflecting the diverse circumstances and life paths that children in care face.
This project is a greater reflection of the values that MSVU aims to promote, specifically providing accessible post-secondary education for those who need it.
I hope that this project will become a permanent program and allow more individuals to pursue post-secondary education.
