I have put the Nova Scotia Legislature’s official tartan outside my home in honour of those who lost their lives yesterday after the fatal shooting.
Premier Stephen McNeil made a heartfelt statement during today’s press conference. I wish to add that although it is very hard that the people of Nova Scotia cannot come together to grieve this tragedy as a community, as much as we would like to, we can still show unity.
We, not only as Canadians, but specifically as Nova Scotians, are known for our kindness. I know we all want to hug each other and reach out to comfort those hurting right now. It is so important that we continue to listen to Dr. Strang’s advice and follow the public health protocols.
However, we have chosen a special way to honour the victims: As I have put the Nova Scotia Legislature’s official tartan on my front entrance door to show that I am thinking of the families and friends effected… we encourage you to do the same. Put your tartan on display; tie it to a tree in your yard, hang it on your balcony… or in a window.
If you do not have a tartan, use something blue 💙
Let’s show our love through the pride we take in our community.
Let’s show that we are #NovaScotiaStrong
