‘On Their Shoulders’ Book Celebration

I was happy to attend a celebration for Grace Evans and Sarah Dobson in honour of their new book, ‘On Their Shoulders: The Women Who Have Paved the Way in Nova Scotia Politics,’ at Dalhousie University’s, Shirreff Hall.

Minister Kelly Regan, Minister Lena Metlege Diab, as well as Federal Minister of Fisheries, Bernadette Jordan, and former MLA of Dartmouth North, Joanne Bernard, were all in attendance.

I know I can speak for all of us when I say that we are so proud to know these two young, inspiring women who are detailing the accomplishments of women in our legislature.

Proceeds from the book will go towards a new scholarship at Dalhousie University for women who are entering political science and have political aspirations.

Sarah and Grace have launched an online fundraising campaign in order to accomplish their goal of $20,000 for the scholarship.

To donate, please visit: projectdal.ca/womeninpolitics. They are currently at $4,405!

The book is expected to be released in late spring.

Thank you to the Dalhousie Women’s Division and the Junior League of Halifax for organizing the event.
