Remembrance Day 2020

Every year, in honour of #RemembranceDay, I attend the Korean War Veterans Memorial Service.

This years’ service was slightly different, to ensure compliance with COVID-19 public health guidelines.

It was a pleasure to listen to the Canadian and South Korean national anthems with Seraphin Kim with the Korean Catholic Choir, the prayer from Mr. HoJin Ahn, Pastor of Korean Presbyterian Church of NS, the Last Post from Mike Cowie and Graham McBride’s history of remembrance.

It was a beautiful day to pay respect to those who serve and served our country. I look forward to placing my wreath each year.

One of my Casual Staff Members, Gail Scarola’s father served in the Navy and I am thankful for his service.

This year we are also celebrating significant war anniversaries, including the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands and Victory in Europe Day.

It is because of the courageous and brave veterans that we are able to enjoy life in a democratic country that adheres to the rule of law and respects human rights.

Special thanks to Nicole Mosher for settling into the shoes of Mary Wile, who was present as a special guest.
