Celebrating Small Business Week

This week is Small Business Week!

Small businesses are vital to our local economy and create jobs, fuel innovation, and meet local needs. I encourage all my constituents in #ClaytonParkWest to #SupportLocal, especially for the upcoming holiday season, as small businesses have been particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

I want to take the time to highlight the following small businesses in my riding:

1. Jagger’s Café + Donut Bar

Jagger’s Café + Donut Bar, located in Bayers Lake on Susie Lake Crescent, are a new business who opened just before the pandemic hit.

Jagger’s offers custom, fresh made-to-order donuts. Specialty coffee and a breakfast and lunch menu is also available.

Co-owners Graham Winterbourne, Helen Allen and Jagger Winterbourne adapted their business to comply with the COVID-19 restrictions and created options for Take Out and Delivery. They re-opened for in-person dining on April 27.

Business is now steadily increasing and co-owners are determined to stay. Myself, Zeina (CA), and Emily (Casual Staff Member) tried your delicious donuts last week and absolutely loved them!

2. Paula’s Place Tailor Shop

Paula’s Place Tailor Shop has been located at the Rockingham Ridge Plaza at 30 Farnham Gate Road for 34 years! Paula shared that after re-opening, business is steady. Paula specializes in clothing repairs and alterations and shoe repair. She also offers custom-made clothing!

Paula’s smiling face and sense of humour will delight any customer!

3. Ando Salon & Laser

Ando Salon & Laser (formerly Hair Artistic & Laser Clinic) has been operating in #ClaytonParkWest at 287 Lacewood Drive for 18 years. Ando offers hair, esthetics, and laser hair removal services. Their staff are highly specialized and distinguished in the field.

Mincheol Kang, bought the business last year after immigrating to Canada in 2017. He is originally from South Korea. Business is steady and they are very happy to reopen after the COVID-19 lockdown.
