I had the opportunity to act as Governor General at Halifax West High School this morning for their Model Parliament.
I was so impressed that the school has implemented a program such as this, as it teaches the youth about the political system and the many roles within government.
The exposure of this realm is so important in schools, as many youth would not know about it otherwise. I only wish I had something like this when I was in high school.
The students were very creative in their statements and rebuttals.
Thank you to Jennifer Fougere, Department Head for Languages and Social Studies, for both letting the students participate in an event like this, and also for inviting me to be a part of it!
