Nova Scotia Schools to Receive Book Highlighting Provincial History

Students across Nova Scotia will be able to unlock a piece of Nova Scotia’s history soon, through the donation of a new book on Province House in Halifax.

Nova Scotia’s Province House, published to commemorate its 200th anniversary, is being donated by the House of Assembly to school libraries supporting grades 7 to 12.

The book focuses on the building’s design, including facts about the artifacts, rooms and historic events.

It also features an illustrated tour of Province House and includes both historic and modern photos of Canada’s oldest legislative building.

Province House was officially opened on February 11th, 1819, by Lord Dalhousie. And, at the time, was home to all three levels of government: Judicial, Executive and Legislative.

Nova Scotia’s Province House is available at stores across the province.
