Spring Convocations at Mount Saint Vincent University

I was honoured to attend one of three Spring Convocations at Mount Saint Vincent University yesterday, where business admin, public relations and other students, received their degree.

What a proud moment for both the students and their families, and an especially proud moment for our Province.

Also, a powerful and memorable speech was delivered by Mandy Rennehan, the Honarary Degree recipient. Mandy is the CEO of Blue-Collar and founded Freshco. She reminded the graduates of the importance of combining the world of academics and the world of trades.

I was also happy to attend the Chancellor’s Dinner last night on behalf of the Premier.

Thank you to the emcee, Sister S.joan O’Keef, Chancellor of MSVU, and the president, Mary Bluechardt.

I would also like to thank Dennice Leahey who was marching in front of me in the procession. I told her that walking at an MSVU Convocation is emotional, as I graduated 31 years ago, but sensed common-ground when she said she graduated 55 years ago. We shared stories from our times as students at this beloved university.

I look forward to next year’s convocation.
