Saturday marked UTSAV 2019, and I was honoured to attend on behalf of Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, Leo Glavine.
UTSAV is put on every year by the South Indian Cultural Association of the Maritimes. Utsav means Festival — and what a festival it was! There were beautiful performances of singing, dancing and acting… and there was even a spectacular fashion show, showcasing custom clothing with the most intricate details.
After the show, a delicious meal was served by one of the most famous restaurants in Clayton Park West, Dhaba Express. If you have not tried it before, be sure to stop by!
It was so wonderful to see how practicing and preparing for the event brought the community together to enjoy their culture and language. Also, how important it was for them to share it with friends and neighbours.
