Vigil for London Ont. Victims

I attended the vigil at Kearney Lake mosque last night, and listened to many powerful speeches from the Muslim community, including the Imam, Sheikh Wael S. M. Haridy and the president Dr. Ali Muhammad. As well, members from the Jewish, Christian and Indigenous communities came and spoke to show their solidarity with the Muslim community.
I was joined by my colleagues – Minister Diab, Deputy Premier Kelly Regan, MP Geoff Regan and the Liberal candidate for Bedford South Braedon Clark.
I was honoured to have the opportunity to say a few words, how Canada and specifically Nova Scotia has welcomed all religions and cultures.
I reiterated how devastating this London tragedy has been and has shaken us all. But, we must remember that we are all welcome here and we must continue to be one family.
Hate and Islamopobia has no place here.
